Definition. Let $(\Omega ,\mathcal{F},P)$ be a probability triple and let $A,B\in \Omega$ with $P(B)>0$. Then, the conditional probability of $A$ given $B$ is defined as

$$P(A|B)=\frac{P(A\cap B)}{P(B)}.$$
